Agricultural Information Service

Company Introduction:

 

The Agricultural Information Service (AIS) is an agency under the Ministry of Agriculture. The main goal of the organization is to reach the doorsteps of the farmers at the grassroots level with the help of agricultural information and technology media. It became an agricultural information service in 1985 after its debut as an agricultural information agency in 1981. Agricultural information services are provided through the headquarters and 11 regional offices across the country.

Dissemination of agricultural information:

 

The Agricultural Information Service mainly disseminates agricultural information through print, electronic and ICT by making the agricultural information and technology obtained from various knowledge centers including research institutes, extension departments, universities acceptable to the farmers.

 

Print media activities:

 

Krishikatha: The most traditional ancient farm magazine of Bangladesh is published monthly Krishikatha and distributed at nominal price. At present, the number of subscribers of Krishikatha is more than 60 thousand. And its readership is more than 1.5 million. From January 2009 to June 2018, about 39.60 lakh copies of the traditional monthly 'Krishikatha' have been printed and distributed.

 

Extension Message: The monthly departmental news bulletin is published and distributed in four colors. Expansion messages are regularly published on agricultural development, prosperity, success, updated news of various events. From January 2009 to June 2018, 1.05 lakh copies of the monthly expansion message were published and distributed.

 

Other Publications: Contributes to the spread of technology through free distribution of technology based books, booklets, posters, leaflets, folders, stickers, magazines, banners, festoons at the current demand of farmers and agricultural workers and interested parties. Leaflets on agricultural technology, About 35.72 lakh copies of posters, booklets etc. have been printed and distributed.

 

Electronic media activities:

 

Bangladesh Television: Under the overall supervision and support of Agricultural Information Service, Mati O Manush program is being broadcast on Bangladesh Television 5 days a week. Besides, since 2014, BTV's daily agricultural program 'Bangla Krishi' is being aired every day at 8:25 am. At that time, all the technical assistance was provided for the broadcasting of 2315 episodes of 'Mati O Manush' and about 1890 episodes of 'Banglar Krishi' on Bangladesh Television.

 

Bangladesh Betar: To provide overall support to Bangladesh Betar in the production of national and regional agricultural programs. The program is being broadcast for about 14 and a half hours daily from national and regional level radio stations.

Community Radio: Agriculture Radio through Community Radio in Amtali, Barguna District with the slogan 'My Radio Speaks to Me'.

FM 98.6 is a daily program for 12 hours in 12 upazilas of Barguna and Patuakhali districts, including rural welfare and demand-based agriculture.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Agricultural Video Images: Agricultural Information Service uses state-of-the-art information technology to produce various videos, documentaries, films, fillers, dramas, talk shows and broadcast in the media. These videos are shown at the village level through mobile cinema vans.

 

During the period under review, 36 video films and 72 fillers based on agricultural technology have been produced and broadcast. At this time, modern agricultural information technology has been disseminated at the grassroots level through 6420 mobile film exhibitions.

 

ICT and Innovation Activities:

 

Center for Agricultural Information and Communication (AICC): The Agricultural Information Service is the first to set up 499 agricultural information and communication centers at the village level and use ICT to disseminate agricultural information at the grassroots level. These centers have provided training on the use of laptops, smartphones, internet modems, multimedia materials, etc.

 

Agricultural Call Center: Agriculture Call Center-16123 was established in 2014 to solve various problems related to agriculture immediately by talking directly to agricultural experts (agriculture, fisheries and livestock). You can call 16123 from any part of the country from any mobile at the rate of only 25 paisa / minute. From June 2014 to August 2017, information services have been provided to about one lakh farmers.

 

Smart Agriculture: Agricultural Information Service has started the practice of 'Smart Agriculture' in Bangladesh in collaboration with reputed domestic and international organizations. To this end, early warning messages are being sent to the farmers by analyzing the GIS based data of the farmers to control the potato plague.

 

E-book: Multimedia e-book is an interactive digital book made up of a combination of text content, audio, video, animation. These have all been distributed in CD format to AICC. Since 2009, 55 multimedia e-books based on various crops and technologies have been created.

 

Websites, mobile apps and other initiatives: A vast web portal containing various information technology of agriculture is built and regularly updated. There are also two mobile apps called Krishikatha and Krishi Information Service. Besides, ten modern ICT labs and 11 kiosks have been set up in ten agricultural areas for easy access to information.

 

Other activities

 

Training Activities: Agricultural Information Service is implementing training on modern technology for farmers, agriculturists, agriculturists, service providers and stakeholders under various headings in various media-based formats. It is creating skilled media personnel and IT-friendly personnel who are accelerating agricultural development by implementing modern agricultural information technology.

 

Since 2009, 11450 people have been trained on e-agriculture, media agriculture, agricultural technology, etc.

 

Other events: Seminars, fairs, rallies etc. have been organized on the occasion of various national and international agricultural days. On behalf of the Ministry of Agriculture, the Agricultural Information Service promotes the overall promotion of agriculture.

In recognition of its success, the Agricultural Information Service has won various recognitions including Bangabandhu National Agriculture Medal (Gold Medal), National Digital Innovation Medal.
