Food production
Potato is one of the significant crops produced in Basail Union. This is followed by paddy and jute. Oilseeds include mustard and sesame. Wheat is the national food grain produced. Notable fruits are mango, blackberry, jackfruit, guava, coconut, betel nut, palm, date, grapefruit (Batabi lemon), Fruits like lemon, tamarind, kamaranga, olive, bell, pomegranate, quince etc. are also produced in large quantities. Pepper, Onion, Garlic, Coriander, Ginger etc. Spicy Cereals, Gourd, Sweet Pumpkin, Rice Pumpkin, Uchche, Karala, Chichinga, Shrimp, Zucchini, Bean, Barbati, Cockroach, Dherash, Round Potato, Eggplant, Tomato Cauliflower, Cabbage etc. Vegetables are produced in large quantities.
